Using QuestStream in Parent-Only Mode
Not every child has access to a tablet or phone — and that's perfectly fine. QuestStream works beautifully in parent-only mode, where you manage quests and rewards while your child stays completely offline.

How It Works
In parent-only mode, you become the quest master. You'll:
- Create and assign quests from your phone or computer
- Track completion by observing your child in real life
- Mark quests as complete and grant rewards yourself
- Show your child their progress on your device when they're curious
Setting Up Parent-Only Mode
There's no special setting to enable — simply don't create a child account. Instead:
- Create quests as usual in your parent dashboard
- Print or write down the daily quests on a whiteboard or paper chart
- Check off completed quests in the app as your child finishes them
- Announce rewards verbally and track coins in the app

The Analog Quest Board
Many parents find that a physical quest board works wonders:
- Use a whiteboard with magnetic tokens
- Create a paper chart with sticker slots
- Use a jar where completed quest cards go
Your child experiences the satisfaction of physical completion while you maintain digital records.
Benefits of This Approach
No screen time for kids — The entire gamification happens offline for your child.
You stay in control — No notifications interrupting your child, no app addiction concerns.
Works for young children — Perfect for ages 3-6 who can't read or navigate apps yet.
Flexible verification — You decide when a quest is truly complete.

When to Transition
Consider adding a child account when:
- Your child can read basic text
- They're asking to see their own progress
- You want them to learn digital responsibility
- They're mature enough to handle notifications
Until then, parent-only mode gives you all the benefits of gamified chores without any screen time trade-offs.
