Using QuestStream in Standard Mode
Standard mode is the heart of QuestStream — a collaborative workflow where parents set expectations and children rise to meet them. This guide walks you through the complete cycle.

The Standard Mode Cycle
- Parent creates a quest with clear requirements
- Child sees the quest in their dashboard
- Child completes the task in real life
- Child marks it complete in the app
- Parent reviews and approves (or requests changes)
- Rewards are granted automatically
Creating Effective Quests
When creating quests for standard mode:
Be specific about requirements:
- "Clean your room" → "Make bed, put clothes in hamper, clear floor"
- "Do homework" → "Complete math worksheet and reading assignment"
Set realistic XP and coin values:
- Quick tasks (5 min): 10-25 XP
- Medium tasks (15-30 min): 25-50 XP
- Challenging tasks (30+ min): 50-100 XP

The Child's Experience
Your child opens QuestStream to find their assigned quests. Each quest shows:
- What needs to be done
- XP and coin rewards
- Any deadline or time limit
- Quest category (chores, learning, health, etc.)
When they finish a task, they tap "Complete" and optionally add a note or photo as proof.
The Approval Process
You'll receive a notification when a quest is submitted. In your parent dashboard:
- Review the completion
- Check any attached notes or photos
- Approve to grant rewards, or
- Request revision with feedback

Tips for Success
Respond promptly — Children stay motivated when approvals happen quickly.
Give specific feedback — "Great job organizing your bookshelf!" beats "Approved."
Use revision requests kindly — "Almost there! Just need to wipe down the desk too."
Celebrate milestones — When they level up, make it special.
When Standard Mode Works Best
Standard mode is ideal when:
- Children are 6-12 years old
- You want oversight on task completion
- Building trust and responsibility gradually
- Tasks require quality verification
As trust builds, consider adding some self-service quests to the mix.
